As airport passenger volumes continue to increase at SEATAC, new accomodations are underway to make existing terminals more accessible to wide-body international jets. Following a series of changes and upgrades made to Concourse A and a gleaming new International Arrivals experience, Delta engaged ¾º²Ê×ãÇòapp to modify gate A-12 to accomodate newer, wide-body aircraft, increasing the ports overall capacity for larger jets to be parked simultaneously within the terminal. The project, excuted Design-Build with architect Corgan associates, involved the relocation of an existing jetbridge to the new A-12 location, the addition of a second jetbridge, and implementation of a gate desk within the terminal. With the surrounding gates being primarily used by Delta Airlines, an additional Delta concierge desk was placed to support passengers. ¾º²Ê×ãÇòapp engaged with AERO as a design-build partner to assist with procurement.
In order to complete the project, a new point of use preconditioned air unit, ground power unit equipment, and potable water cabinet were added. All demolition included proper off-site disposal and removal of glycol. The replacement for the gate included standardizing controls, senors, hyrdraulics , motors, electrical functions and security access controls. Prior to becoming operational, the gate underwent significant testing for readiness, acceptance and gate fit. The Delta A12 project was executed in concert with a series of significant airport enhancements and upgrades.
